My design process

I never start designing without first understanding the problem and doing research, otherwise, it’s just guesswork. From there, my approach is flexible: no two projects are the same, so I adapt depending on the sector, company, and complexity. I focus on spotting gaps in the process so we can move quickly when possible, or slow down to get things right.

My design philosophy

I take inspiration from existing products to speed up the design process, but never to copy outcomes. Established brands help set expectations, but the goal is always to push beyond familiar patterns and create something with its own identity. I focus on simplicity, spacing, and clear hierarchy, removing anything that could distract users from the primary actions and keeping attention where it matters most.

What I think of AI

I see AI as a tool that supports good design, not something that replaces it. When used properly, it can remove a lot of the manual, time-consuming work and allow designers to focus on higher-value thinking. I use AI to support early-stage tasks such as journey scoping, idea exploration, marketing content, and refining language, which helps speed up decision-making without compromising quality. This frees up more time to focus on the finer details that give products personality and bring brands to life.

Beyond the screen

I’ve always had a natural interest in both art and technology, which is what drew me to UI/UX in the first place. I enjoy staying curious and keeping up with how design, products, and tools evolve, but I’m just as conscious of stepping away from the screen when needed. I live in Bristol with my partner and our five-year-old son, and family life has given me a strong sense of balance and perspective. I also come from a sporting background, so staying active and enjoying a bit of healthy competition is part of who I am and how I approach everyday challenges.
